Eritrean people welcome New Year with enthusiasm

The Eritrean people welcome the New Year 2018 with enthusiasm and with anticipation of bright prospects.

Asmara, 01 January 2018- The Eritrean people welcome the New Year 2018 with enthusiasm and with anticipation of bright prospects.

This was reflected at the entertainment programs held in different parts of Asmara in connection with the New Year. The participants commented that the peaceful atmosphere they have been enjoying was the result of the strong resilience of the people and Government of Eritrea.

They also said that the New Year is in which they express conviction to resolutely work for higher outcome and stressed on the need to make solemn assessment with a view to preserve the achievements registered and alleviate shortcomings.

Indicating that the self-reliance stance that has been developed during the armed struggle for independence is still being witnessed in all sectors, the observers pointed out that the achievements already registered in terms of ensuring food security as well as the basic social service provision institutions put in place attest to commitment of the Eritrean people.

Mr. Khaled Ahmed and Mr. Imam Mohammed Beshir, Lybian and Sudanese nationals respectively who participated in the entertainment program expressed appreciation for the peace and stability prevailing in Eritrea and whished the Eritrean people a Happy New Year.
