Asmara, 26 January 2018 – At an assessment meeting held in Barentu, Ms. Amina Nur-Husein, Minister of Health, said that efforts are being made to strengthen the capacity of health service provision.
Noting that the effort to provide comprehensive health service to the public is registering commendable result, Minister Amina said that Medical Doctors and other health professionals have been assigned in all regions with a view to provide the necessary health service to the public. She also pointed out that significant investment is being made to equip health facilities with modern medical materials.
Minister Amina reiterated that emphasis have been given towards the development of the capacity of Barentu, Aqordet and Tesenei Hospitals.
According to reports, praiseworthy activities have been undertaken in ensuring maternity and child health, vaccination coverage, controlling the prevalence of malaria, environmental sanitation as well as raising the awareness of the public on health issues.
Dr. Leul Banteyirga, Head of the Ministry’s branch in Gash Barka region, called for sustainability of the coordination that is being demonstrated both by the public and stakeholders.
Dr. Josephine Namboze, WHO Representative in Eritrea, appreciated the successful health provision activities and expressed readiness to cooperate with the ministry in all its endeavors.
