Massawa, 27 January 2018- Three months theoretical and practical vocational training was organized for 52 female youth in the port city of Massawa.
At the graduation ceremony held on 25 January, the head of the National Union of Eritrean Youth and Students (NUEYS) branch in the sub-zone, Mr. Ali Ferej said that the training was in continuation of the efforts being conducted to equip the youth with various skills. He also pointed out that the trainees will be provided the opportunity of interest free loans in groups or at individual level.
The head of projects of the NUEYS branch in the sub-zone, Mr. Tekle Zer’e stated that the union has been conducting various activities to enable the youth become productive members of the society and that in 2017 vocational trainings have been organized in the sub-zones of Massawa, Ghinda, Gelao, Afabet and Nakfa.
Indicating that the Government is making huge investment on the youth, Mr. Haile Asfaha, administrator of the sub-zone, on his part called for increased participation in raising the awareness of the youth and encourage them strengthen participation in the national development endeavors.
Documents indicate that last year, 400 youth in the Massawa sub-zone have been trained in wood and steel works, first aid, and beauty saloon.
