Prevalence of TB on decline

The sustainable awareness raising campaign conducted and the supply of basic medicines to the health facilities has significantly contributed in reducing the prevalence of TB in the Anseba region.

Keren, 29 March 2018- The sustainable awareness raising campaign conducted and the supply of basic medicines to the health facilities has significantly contributed in reducing the prevalence of TB in the Anseba region.

Nurse Kibrom Eqbu, head of the TB Control at the Ministry of Health branch in the region, said that laboratory equipments put in place in the health facilities in Glas, Keren, Elaberet, Filedarb, Hamelmalo, Habero, Halhal, Asmat and Adi-Tekelezan have significantly contributed in the reduction of the disease and the death rate due to the disease.

Indicating that development of resistance of the virus to drugs and negligence of patients to the medication procedure have been among the challenges, Nurse Kibrom said that effort is being exerted to reduce the prevalence of the disease by 90% until 2021.

The head of the Ministry of Health branch in the region, Dr. Kesetebrhan Solomon pointed out that strong effort is being exerted to control the prevalence of the disease by introducing modern way of treating patients and conducting sustainable awareness raising campaigns.
