Asmara, 22 April 2018 – The founding congress of the National Association of Chemical Engineers was conducted on 21 April at the NCEW Hall. At the congress, graduates and professional chemical engineers and concerned industries took part.
Speaking at the event, the D. G of the Department of Industry at the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Mr. Tadese Weldeyohannes indicated that while Eritrea is endowed with unexploited agricultural, mineral and marine resources more than 80% of the raw materials used by the industries in the country are imported with hard currency. Mr. Tadese expressed expectation that the association will play due role in alleviating the problem and improving the quality of industrial products.
The Chairman of the association, Mr. Abraham Yohannes on his part, said that the association will be engaged in conducting researches and related activities in a bid to upgrade the capacity of industries and thereby to boost production and productivity.
The participants of the congress conducted extensive discussion on issues that reinforce the activities of the association.
