Mendefera, 24 June 2018- A total of 48.6 million Nakfa has been disbursed to families of martyrs in the past four months, according to report from the Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare branch in the Southern region.

Mr. Fray Mehari, head of the Social Welfare in the region, indicated that the support was made to families of martyrs in Mendefera, Dekemhare, Dubaruwa and Adi-Keih.

Pointing out that assisting the families of martyrs is one of the values of the Eritrean people, Mr. Fray stated that in addition to the support provided by the Government, Eritreans inside the country and abroad have been extending financial and material support to families of martyrs.

Mr. Fray further said that in the month of May alone over 642 thousand Nakfa has been disbursed to 139 families of martyrs.

Apart from the financial support the community is also assisting the families of martyrs by building and renovating residential houses in addition to cultivating their lands.

Keren, 24 June- The residents of administrative area of Waliku, Keren town, contributed more than 15 thousand Nakfa in support of 75 families of martyrs. The contribution was made at an event held in connection with Martyrs Day.

The residents said that supporting families of martyrs is not to be left on the Government and that is the responsibility of every citizen.

The administrator of the administrative area, Mr. Bekit Gubtan commending the initiative taken by the residents to support families of martyrs called on other administrative areas to follow the noble example of the Waliku residents.

The beneficiary families on their part expressed appreciation for the support they were provided.

The residents of Waliku administrative area have so far contributed more than 100 thousand Nakfa in support of families of martyrs.
