Enhancing awareness of society on blood donation

The number of voluntary blood donors is increasing thanks to the awareness raising popular campaign conducted in Afabet sub zone.

Massawa, 23 August 2018 – The number of voluntary blood donors is increasing thanks to the awareness raising popular campaign conducted in Afabet sub zone.

According to health professionals in Afabet Hospital, the awareness of the society on the significance of voluntary blood donation has increased and that this year over 300 nationals donated voluntarily blood and that the number is increasing.

The health practitioners further said that more awareness raising campaigns will be conducted with the view of augmenting voluntary blood donation.

In the meanwhile, teachers and students of Poly-Tech vocational training center as well as parents and partners voluntarily donated 70 units of blood on 17 August.

It is to be recalled that the teachers and students of the training center have donated 130 blood units in similar activity they conducted during 2015-2017.
