Asmara, 28 August 2018 – A workshop on developing cloth design as part of the national cultural identity and capacity of designers was held on 25 August.

The workshop was attended by the Commission of Culture and Sports, cloth designers, fashion show experts as well as models. According to the research papers presented at the workshop, fashion shows and cloth designs have been influenced by the western culture and the awareness of the public was very low and that has hindered the desired development of that sector.

The research paper presenters called for fashion show organizers and cloth designers so that they would be able to engage in the development of culture oriented cloth designs and play due part in transferring the noble cultural values of the society.

The participants of the workshop held discussion on the research papers presented and for due attention to the cultures and traditions of the Eritrean society.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador ZemedeTekle, Commissioner of Culture and Sports, praised the initiative and expressed readiness that the commission will stand alongside them in all their endeavors to develop fashion shows and cloth designs in relevance with the Eritrean people’s cultural perspective.
