International Teachers Day observed

International Teachers Day was observed on 5 October under the theme “Education Right with Competent Teacher”.

Asmara, 06 October 2018- International Teachers Day was observed on 5 October under the theme “Education Right with Competent Teacher”.

At the ceremony in which heads of the Ministry of Education and invited guests took part, the Chairman of the Eritrean Teachers Association, Mr. Simon Mehari indicated that the association is exerting strong effort in cooperation with stockholder to realize the provision of efficient and quality education service all over the country.

Indicating that the development of a country depends on the quality education being provided, Mr. Simon said that the substantial investment the Eritrean Government is making in education attests to that effect. Mr. Simon went on to say that the expansion of educational facilities has been realized and what remains is ensuring the provision of quality education and called on the concerned institutions and stakeholders to conduct integrated effort in cooperation with teachers which are the main actors.

Dr. Halima Mohammed from the Ministry of Education explained on the essence and meaning of this year’s theme “Education Right with Competent Teacher” and the role of competent teachers in realizing the provision of quality education.

The International Teachers Day is being observed for the 22 times at national level and for 35 times at international level.
