Community led environmental sanitation program that has been exerted in the Northern Red Sea region since 2009 is significantly contributing in ensuring the health of nationals, the Ministry of Health branch in the region stated.
Massawa, 20 October 2018 – Community led environmental sanitation program that has been exerted in the Northern Red Sea region since 2009 is significantly contributing in ensuring the health of nationals, the Ministry of Health branch in the region stated.
Mr. Hagos Milkias, head of environmental sanitation unit at the branch, indicated that commendable environmental sanitation activities aimed at preventing water borne diseases have been conducted in the previous years.
Pointing out that half of the villages in the region have introduced latrines and are able to ensure environmental sanitation and public health, Mr. Hagos said that the Ministry of Health along with its partners is exerting effort to introduce latrines to the remaining villages.
Mr. Hagos called for the conducting proper inspection on water sources and administrations and families to increase contribution for the successful implementation of the program.
