Ministry of Justice striving to strengthen organizational capacity

At a meeting with staff members of line ministries and administrations in the Northern Red Sea region on 13 November in Massawa, Ms. Fauzia Hashim, Minister of Justice pointed out that the ministry is exerting strong effort to strengthen organizational capacity of courts and community magistrates.

Massawa, 15 November 2018- At a meeting with staff members of line ministries and administrations in the Northern Red Sea region on 13 November in Massawa, Ms. Fauzia Hashim, Minister of Justice pointed out that the ministry is exerting strong effort to strengthen organizational capacity of courts and community magistrates.

Indicating that the priority effort of the Ministry is to strengthen the capacity of the community magistrates, Minister Fauzia said that commendable activities have been conducted to reinforce work relations and to introduce modern information system.

Minister Fauzia went on to say that sustainable seminars and meetings have been conducted to increase the understanding of the public on law. She also stated that in accordance with the proclamation No. 167/2012 the mandate of courts has been revised and that issues related to house rents and other minor crimes have been mandated to community magistrates.

The Governor of the Northern Red Sea, Brig. Gen. Tekle Libsu said that the community magistrates have been providing commendable legal service to the public and called for preserving the noble traditional system of resolving conflicts.

The participants on their part commended the legal service the community magistrates have been providing and called for more effort for strengthening them.
