Seminar on prevention of communicable diseases

The Ministry of Health branch in Gash Barka region made a call on the part of students and youth to enhance awareness and increase contribution in the prevention of communicable diseases such as HIV/AIDS.

Barentu, 07 December 2018 – The Ministry of Health branch in Gash Barka region made a call on the part of students and youth to enhance awareness and increase contribution in the prevention of communicable diseases such as HIV/AIDS. The call was made during a seminar conducted in Gogne with the view of preventing communicable diseases.

In a meeting conducted with the students and teachers of Gogne Boarding School, Mr. Gebremeskel Weldeabzgi, head of communicable diseases control unit in the sub-zone, gave briefing on causes and consequence of HIV/AIDS and underscored the significance of increased contribution of the youth for the success of the prevention efforts being exerted.

The head of Promotion and Information, Mr. Sultan Hagos on his part stated that thanks to the integrated campaign and seminars being exerted in the sub zone commendable results are being registered in the effort to prevent communicable diseases and called on the youth to avoid from exposing themselves to the disease.

Mr. Abubakar Mohamed-Idris, representing the administrator of Gogne subzone, and Mr. Kibrom Asmerom, director of Gogne Boarding School on their part, underlining the significance of similar seminars on health issues in increasing awareness, expressed readiness to encourage students and the youth to enhance contribution in the national campaign against communicable diseases.
