The Anseba region administration conducted its annual activity assessment meeting on 19 and 20 December.

Keren, 23 December 2018 – The Anseba region administration conducted its annual activity assessment meeting on 19 and 20 December.

According to activity reports presented, over 54 thousand hectare farm land have been cultivated with various crops, registering an 8% increase than that of last year, and vegetable and fruits farming increased by 21% reaching 1062 hectares this year.

Regarding water conservation activities, it was indicated that 6.7 million Nakfa worth dam, three water diversion schemes and one micro-dam were constructed in Habero, Elabered and Hagaz sub zones and that over 954 thousand tree seedlings were planted in Adi-Tekelezan, Elabered and Halhal.

In a bid to ensure potable water supply, four new water systems were implemented and five wells were dug with over 14 million Nakfa and that two water projects were renovated in the region. It was also reported that the task will be continued with great vigor in 2019.

The report further noted that a survey was conducted on the implementation of 38 million Nakfa worth water projects on schools, villages and semi-urban centers.

Participants on their part, finally, called for alleviation of water supply of Enkubert, establishment of cultural and heritage study center, expansion and renovation of Kere-Edirba dirt road, enhanced village regrouping initiatives, and wild life and forest conservation activity among others.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Ali Mahmud, Governor of Anseba region, reminded concerned government bodies, partners and residents to play due role in this new era of peace prospect to integrate effort and reinforce contribution.
