Asmara, 31 December 2018- The Eritrean Medical Association held its 24th conference on 29 December here in the capital Asmara.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Mismay Gebrehiwet, advisor to the Minister of Health, said that the Eritrean Medical Association is conducting commendable activity in the medical facilities management, providing health service, organizing training programs as well as in conducting researches related to health issues.
Indicating that the priority of the association is to ensure the health of the society, the President of the Association, Prof. Negasi Leake said that more focus is given to expansion of membership, organizing sustainable training programs and providing up to date medical information among others.
Dr. Negasi went on to say that the reduction of the death rate of mothers and children, expansion of vaccination coverage, control of HIV/AIDS, TB and malaria as well as ensuring the basic health service to the public are among the achievements the association has registered.
At the conference research papers were presented regarding the causes and consequences as well as treatment of Hemophilia, TB, Fistula, and intestine diseases.
