The Northern Red Sea region Assembly conducted its 15th regular meeting on 5 March under the theme “Peace with Perseverance: Commitment for Development”.
Massawa, 06 March 2019- The Northern Red Sea region Assembly conducted its 15th regular meeting on 5 March under the theme “Peace with Perseverance: Commitment for Development”.
Speaking at the occasion, the Chairman of the Assembly, Mr. Ibrahim Ali Sheik said that the unfolding peace is the result of the strong perseverance and resilience of the Eritrean people and that attests to the promising development prospect.
Underling that it is time to work double fold for making the lost opportunity due to external conspiracies, Mr. Ibrahim called for integrated effort in ensuring students’ school enrolment and sustainable community based environmental sanitation activities.
The assembly in its one-day meeting conducted extensive discussion on the progress of infrastructure activities, provision of social services, agricultural condition, soil and water conservation, forestation and development of livestock and wild animals as well as administrative issues and others.
The Governor of the region, Brig. Gen. Tekle Libsu commending the progress being made in all sectors of the economy, called for increased participation in the soil and water conservation program as well as other activities aimed at redressing the environment.
The Assembly adopted various recommendations including development of community based sports activities, expansion of school facilities to remote parts of the region, encourage females school enrolment, finalize the community based environmental sanitation program by 2019 among others.
