Eritreans in Riyadh and its environs celebrate Independence Day anniversary

Eritrean nationals in Riyadh and its environs, Saudi Arabia enthusiastically celebrated the 28th Independence Day anniversary on 6 June under the theme “Resilience for Higher Progress”.

 

Asmara, 08 June 2019- Eritrean nationals in Riyadh and its environs, Saudi Arabia enthusiastically celebrated the 28th Independence Day anniversary on 6 June under the theme “Resilience for Higher Progress”.

Speaking at the event, Ms. Weyni Gerezgihier, Charge d’Affairs at the Eritrean Embassy in Saudi Arabia, indicated that this year’s Independence Day is being celebrated at a time of new era of peace and cooperation prevailing in the region and that is the result of unity and perseverance of the Eritrean people and its leadership. Ms. Weyni also expressed her firm belief that the national development program will be successfully implemented through popular participation.

Ms. Weyni also gave extensive briefing on the diplomatic efforts being exerted by the Government of Eritrea with the objective of ensuring sustainable socio-economic development and regional cooperation.

Mr. Abdurahman Immam, chairman of the Eritrean Community in Riyadh and its environs on his part, stating that the heavy sacrifices paid and the strong resilience and commitment the Eritrean people and Government demonstrated in the armed struggle for independence and in safeguarding national sovereignty attest to the high value the Eritrean people have for their independence.

The event was highlighted by artistic and musical performances.
