Asmara, 23 July 2019- The 18th annual Eritrean community festival that was underway from 20 July in the presence of Presidential Adviser Mr. Yemane Gebreab concluded with patriotic zeal.
The annual festival that was conducted in London was highlighted by cultural performances by Eritrean artists and artists from neighboring countries, seminar on the objective situation in the homeland, Shingrwa programs from the cities of Manchester, Birmingham, Nottingham, Coventry and London as well as bazaars organized by ex-combatants association and other institutions.
According to report, the program organized by members of the 1st round of the national service in connection with the Silver Jubilee anniversary of the beginning of the National Service Program depicting the experience and life in Sawa, national service and values nurtured, contribution of national service in safeguarding the national sovereignty and nation building process has added color to the annual festival.
The Eritrean Ambassador to the UK and Northern Ireland, Mr. Estifanos Habtemariam said that this year’s festival is unique for it is conducted on the eve of the 25th anniversary of the beginning of the National Service Program and called on the nationals to reinforce contribution in the implementation of the national development endeavors.
At a seminar conducted, Mr. Yemane Gebreab gave extensive briefing on the objective situation in the homeland, progress of the peace and cooperation agreement between Eritrea and Ethiopia and its positive impact in the region, diplomatic engagements and achievements registered, development programs of 2019 and beyond as well as participation of citizens in the national development drives.
Mr. Yemane also commended the strong resilience and commitment the Eritrean people demonstrated in foiling the external conspiracies and contribution to the new era of peaceful prospect unfolding in the region.
Likewise, Ms. Tekea Tesfamicael, Chairwoman of the National Union of Eritrean Women, conducted seminar to members of the union in the UK under the theme “Women: Yesterday and Today” focusing on organizational capacity and implementation of the charted out programs.
