The senior Eritrean delegation comprising Mr. Osman Saleh, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Presidential Advisor Mr. Yemane Gebreab and Mr. Estifanos Afwerki, Eritrean Ambassador to Japan, met and held talks with Mr. Taro Kono, Foreign Minister of Japan, at the sideline of the 7th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD), that is underway in Yokohama, Japan.
Asmara, 30 August 2019- The senior Eritrean delegation comprising Mr. Osman Saleh, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Presidential Advisor Mr. Yemane Gebreab and Mr. Estifanos Afwerki, Eritrean Ambassador to Japan, met and held talks with Mr. Taro Kono, Foreign Minister of Japan, at the sideline of the 7th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD), that is underway in Yokohama, Japan.
The two sides held discussion on strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries as well as regional and global issues of interest to the two countries. The two sides also agreed to bolster periodic consultation on regional developments.
At the meeting, Minister Osman appreciating for the support Japan has been extending expressed Eritrea’s readiness to strengthen cooperation with Japan in the sectors of agriculture, fishery, infrastructure and health. Minister Osman also expressed appreciation for the warm welcome the Eritrean delegation was accorded.
Minister Kono on his part emphasized the peace and cooperation unfolding in the Horn of Africa and expressed his country’s full support. Minister Kono also expressed his country’s readiness to contribute technical support in the development of marine resources.
The Eritrean delegation also participated at the extraordinary summit on peace and security in the Horn of Africa and held discussion with officials of various countries as well as regional and international organizations.
