President Isaias met and held talks with Foreign Minister of South Sudan

President Isaias Afwerki received, at State House in the afternoon hours of yesterday 11 October, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of South Sudan, the Hon. Awut Deng Acuil.

Asmara, 12 October 2011 – President Isaias Afwerki received, at State House in the afternoon hours of yesterday 11 October, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of South Sudan, the Hon. Awut Deng Acuil.

At the meeting Foreign Minister Awut Deng Acuil delivered a message from President Salva Kiir Mayardit to President Isaias Afwerki.

President Salva Kiir’s message centered on peace-building efforts in South Sudan, its facilitation of peace talks between Sudanese Government and opposition movements, and ties of cooperation between Eritrea and the Republic of South Sudan.

President Isaias and Foreign Minister Awut Deng Acuil further discussed on the implementation of the regional cooperation and integration of the Horn of African countries as well as on the initiatives that should be undertaken.

President Isaias Afwerki emphasized readiness to deepen the historical ties between the peoples and Governments of Eritrea and South Sudan.
