Commemoration of 40th anniversary of NUEW

Eritrean nationals residing in various countries commemorated the 40th anniversary of the founding of the National Union of Eritrean Women featuring various programs.

Asmara, 28 November 2019- Eritrean nationals residing in various countries commemorated the 40th anniversary of the founding of the National Union of Eritrean Women featuring various programs.

According to report the Executive Board of the National Union of Eritrean Women in Europe held its annual meeting from 22 to 24 November in Bologna, Italy.

The meeting was attended by representatives from Denmark, France, Germany, Holland, the UK, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Fesehatsion Petros, Eritrean Ambassador to Italy, indicating the heroic feat the Eritrean women demonstrated in every national duties, called for transferring the shining history to posterity.

At the meeting, Ms. Negisti Tsegai, President of the union branch in Europe, presented annual activity report and called for reinforcing organizational capacity and recruit young women to the union.

The participants on their part adopted activity programs for 2020 and expressed readiness to strengthen participation in the national development drives.

In the same vein, Eritrean nationals in Riyadh and its environs commemorated the 40th anniversary of the founding of the National Union of Eritrean Women on 24 November.

The commemoration event was highlighted by photo exhibition as well as cultural and artistic programs.

Likewise, nationals in Seattle and Oakland, United States, commemorated the 40th anniversary of the NUEW.

At the occasions briefings were provided focusing on the contribution of Eritrean women in the struggle for national independence, safeguarding the national sovereignty as well as in the nation building process.

The events were attended by a number of nationals and friends of Eritrea.
