30th anniversary commemoration of Operation Fenkil

The 30th anniversary commemoration of Operation Fenkil will be conducted from 7 to 9 February in the port city of Massawa under the theme “Fenkil for Development”.

Massawa, 22 January 2019- The 30th anniversary commemoration of Operation Fenkil will be conducted from 7 to 9 February in the port city of Massawa under the theme “Fenkil for Development”.

According to Ms. Zeineb Omar, Chairperson of the Holidays Coordinating Committee in the Northern Red Sea region, preparation to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the operation has been finalized.

Ms. Zeineb said that the event will feature cultural programs and sports competitions as well as community gathering depicting the significance of Operation Fenkil in the history of the liberation struggle.

Ms. Zeineb went on to say that the residents of the port city of Massawa have been engaged in cleaning and decorating the city and service rendering institutions have finalized preparations to accommodate pilgrims.

The Holidays Coordinating Committee is also exerting effort to ensure transportation service with fair price, Ms. Zeineb added.
