Barentu, 31 January 2020- The Ministry of Health branch in the Gash Barka region reported that strong effort is being exerted to expand health service provision in the region as well as to develop human capacity and introduce modern medical equipment.
The report was made at a meeting conducted on 27 and 28 January in Barentu.
Indicating that as a result of the integrated effort in cooperation with partners the awareness of the public on communicable diseases has increased and that the prevalence of the diseases has been reduced, Dr. Hayelom Kidane, head of the ministry branch in the region, said that priority will be given to qualitatively improve the provision of health service.
Noting that the health administration introduced over the past years in the five sub-zones, the modern medical equipment introduced in the hospitals as well as the community based environmental sanitation activities and the training provided to barefoot doctors has significantly contributed in alleviating the existed challenges, Dr. Ahayelom said that as a result of that no contagious diseases have been detected.
Indicating that with the growing demand of health services, utmost priority is being given to upgrade the professional skills of health practitioners and supply of medical equipment, Ms. Amina Nur-Husein, Minister of Health, called for the preservation of the already registered achievements and for integrated effort for better outcome.
Mr. Abraha Garza, Governor of the Gash Barka region, on his part expressed readiness of the regional administration in the effort to provide quality health service to the public.
