Financial support to families of martyrs

Over 71 million Nakfa has been disbursed to families of the martyrs in the Central region in the year 2019, the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare branch in the Central region reported. The statement was made during the annual activity assessment meeting the branch conducted on 30 January.

Asmara, 31 January 2010 – Over 71 million Nakfa has been disbursed to families of the martyrs in the Central region in the year 2019, the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare branch in the Central region reported. The statement was made during the annual activity assessment meeting the branch conducted on 30 January.

In a report presented supported with statistical evidence, Ms. Jimi’a Ibrahim, director of the branch office, outlined the various activities the branch has been involving in support of the families of martyrs, disabled nationals, as well as disadvantaged citizens.

According to the report, 61 families supporting orphans and disabled children were extended with material and livestock support worth 10 thousand Nakfa each to help them start businesses; educational opportunities have been created to 540 homeless children and other disadvantaged citizens with 200 thousand Nakfa investment.

Participants of the meeting on their part conducted extensive discussion on the report presented and adopted various recommendations.

In a concluding speech, Col. Gebrehanes Weldegergis, D.G of Social Services in the Central region underlined the significance of the integrated effort and contribution of various Government institutions in the successful implementation of programs and activities aimed at ensuring social welfare.
