Material support to disadvantaged citizens

A number of sub-zones, communities as well as nationals inside the country and abroad have extended financial and material support to disadvantaged citizens with a view to ease the burden they might encounter due to the ‘Stay at Home’ guideline issued to fight the spread of COVID-19.

Asmara, 09 May 2020- A number of sub-zones, communities as well as nationals inside the country and abroad have extended financial and material support to disadvantaged citizens with a view to ease the burden they might encounter due to the ‘Stay at Home’ guideline issued to fight the spread of COVID-19.

Accordingly, communities and affluent individuals in Serejaka, Tsetserat, Geza Banda and Sembel sub zones have extended financial and food items to disadvantaged families in their areas.

A number of nationals residing in the sub zones have also decided that families renting their houses in the sub zones to live free of rental payment ranging from one month until the pandemic is fully contained.

Likewise, members of the Defense Forces in Beleza and Balineki, as well as the department of police in the Gala Nefhi sub zone have contributed food items to disadvantaged families in Gulie administrative area.

In related news, a number of nationals residing in Norway, Sweden and Denmark have decided that families renting their houses in various parts of the country to live free of rental payment ranging from two months until the pandemic is fully contained.
