Forty seven patients have been diagnosed positive for COVID-19 in tests carried out today at Quarantine Centers and OPD Services in Asmara, the Central Region.
On the other hand, twenty three patients who have been receiving medical treatment in hospitals in the Central Region (22) and Southern Red Sea Region (1) have recovered fully and have been released from these facilities.
The total number of recovered patients to-date accordingly stands at 623 while the number of deaths is one.
The total number of confirmed cases in the country to-date has risen to 1039.
The aggregate number of positive cases to-date, which has now exceeded 1,000, is very much preoccupying against the backdrop of the relatively slow rate of spread of the pandemic in the country as a whole in the past nine months. And as such, it amplifies the urgency of implementing, with all requisite seriousness, all the preventive Guidelines issued by the Government so as to fully break the transmission cycle of the pandemic.
