Asmara, 07 September 2023- President Isaias Afwerki in the morning hours today met and held extensive talks in Nairobi with President William Ruto of the Republic of Kenya.
Bilateral relations as well as global and regional issues of shared interest were the main topics of their discussion at the State House meeting.
On the invitation of President William Ruto, President Isaias went to Kenya to take part in the Inaugural Africa Climate Summit that took place from 4 to 6 September in Nairobi.
President Isaias also met, yesterday, 6 September, with the Administrator of the United Nations Development Program, Mr. Achim Steiner, the President of the Board of Afri Exim Bank, Dr. Benedikt Orman; and Adviser to President Ruto on Energy Security, Ms. Monica Juma.
At the meeting with Mr. Mr. Achim Steiner, President Isaias urged the UN to play due part in resolving the conflict in Sudan and work in consultation with the neighboring countries.
In the meeting with the President of the Board of Afri Exim Bank, the two sides discussed the possibility of the Afri Exim Bank contributing to the development of projects in Eritrea. President Isaias also invited Dr. Benedikt Orman to pay a visit to Eritrea.
The discussion with Ms. Monica Juma was intended to exchange thoughts regarding the development of alternative energy sources such as wind, solar, and geothermal energy.
The Presidential delegation included Mr. Osman Saleh, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
