Diaspora Nationals Celebrate Independence Day Anniversary

Asmara, 08 June 2024 – Nationals in South Sudan and Kenya have enthusiastically celebrated the 33rd Independence Day anniversary under the theme “Peace Anchored on Resilience.”

The celebratory event in Wau, Republic of South Sudan, on 2 June was attended by a number of nationals as well as various South Sudanese officials and heads of institutions.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Yohannes Teklemicael, Eritrea’s Ambassador to South Sudan, emphasized that Eritrea’s independence and national sovereignty were attained through the heavy sacrifices of its sons and daughters. He called on nationals to reinforce their participation in national affairs.

Mr. Solomon Kahsai, chairman of the Eritrean community in Wau, expressed the community’s readiness to strengthen its organizational capacity and involvement in national affairs.

Additionally, heads of administrations in Wau highlighted the importance of strengthening friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Similarly, nationals in the city of Mombasa, Kenya, colorfully celebrated the 33rd Independence Day anniversary. Mr. Dawit Hagos, acting chairman of the Eritrean community in Mombasa, stated, “Our Independence is a Gift from Our Martyrs,” and called on nationals to strengthen their resilience and organization to play a significant role in national affairs.
