Significance of pre-education in ensuring capacity

Barentu, 26 December 2025 – Mr. Abdulahi Salah, head of the Education Office in Forto-Sawa sub-zone, said that strong efforts are being exerted to enhance and expand pre-school education in the sub-zone, taking into consideration its significance in ensuring students’ capacity.

Noting that pre-school facilities had been confined to Forto semi-urban center and Girmaika administrative area, Mr. Abdulahi said that, as a result, a number of children in the sub-zone had been denied access to education. He further stated that currently there are 32 new pre-schools providing active educational services to children, and that the number of students attending has significantly increased.

Mr. Abdulahi, noting that investment in basic education has a significant impact on the development of students’ capacity at higher levels of education, said that the effort in this regard is yielding commendable results.

Mr. Abdulahi went on to say that in the 13 administrative areas of the sub-zone there are 32 kindergartens providing educational services in Arabic, Tigre, and Tigrigna languages, and that the number of students attending has increased from 25% to 75%. He also called on area administrators to conduct regular follow-up.
