Inhabitants of Mai-Aini express commitment to enhance participation in development drive

The inhabitants of Mai-Aini sub-zone stated that the major development achievements registered through steadfastly meeting various challenges fully attest to the noble Eritrean identity. They also expressed commitment to enhance participation in the ongoing national development drive.
Mai-Aini, 3 July 2010 – The inhabitants of Mai-Aini sub-zone stated that the major development achievements registered through steadfastly meeting various challenges fully attest to the noble Eritrean identity. They also expressed commitment to enhance participation in the ongoing national development drive.

The inhabitants voiced the determination in a meeting held with the Administrator of the Southern region, Mr. Mustafa Nurhusein, on the objective situation in the country and the implementation of development programs.

Mr. Mustafa indicated that Mai-Aini is endowed with alluvial soil as it is crossed by the rivers of Mereb, Sebene, Gensel and others. In this connection, he called on the local inhabitants to properly make use of the available fertile land along the rivers, and thus boost agricultural production.

Noting that the micro-dams of Sesewe and Una-For’on that were constructed last year have already begun to make due contribution in enriching underground water  resource, the Administrator explained that study is underway to construct micro-dams in Hadas-Agula’e and Ruba Gensel.

The head of the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the region, Mr. Bahta Tedros, said on his part that seeds of different types of crops, fertilizers and cows have been distributed to the farming community so as to raise productivity. Vigorous endeavors are also being made to ensure the health of cattle, he added.
