Youth Played Major Role In Development Achievements Registered In Eritrea: Maj. General Teklay

In a seminar he conducted in Sawa Education and Training Center, Commander of the Eritrean Air Forces, Maj. General Teklay Habteselassie stated that the youth have played a major role in the historical achievements registered in developmental programs and safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty.

Sawa, 20 July 2010 – In a seminar he conducted in Sawa Education and Training Center, Commander of the Eritrean Air Forces, Maj. General Teklay Habteselassie stated that the youth have played a major role in the historical achievements registered in developmental programs and safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty.

Pointing out that previous generations of Eritrean youth played their due role, the Maj. General explained that the peaceful demonstrations, open acts of opposition and disobedience against colonial forces had culminated in giving rise to the armed struggle for liberation.

Stating that national service program has a long historical background in many countries, as part of which youths become actively involved in safeguarding their nation’s sovereignty and developing ravaged economy, Maj. General Teklay said that Eritrean youth have made due contribution in protecting their country and building the nation.

He further said that today’s youths have the responsibility to live up to the expectation of martyrs’ trust and secure the continuity of Eritrea and develop the country.

Indicating that some of the aims of the national service are to create national unity, eradicate sub national sentiments and achieve all-round development, Maj. General Teklay underscored that it is the responsibility of the society at large to nurture disciplined, committed and hard working youth.
