Ministry Implementing Various Programs Towards Alleviating Social Problems In Southern Red Sea Region

The Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare is implementing various programs in Southern Red Sea region aimed at alleviating social problems, according to Mr. Ismail Osman, head of social security in the Ministry’s branch office.
Assab, 25 September 2010 – The Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare is implementing various programs in Southern Red Sea region aimed at alleviating social problems, according to Mr. Ismail Osman, head of social security in the Ministry’s branch office.

He explained that interest-free loan amounting to over 2.2 million Nakfa has been extended to demobilized nationals, including disabled persons and women which would be channeled to cattle husbandry and business  ventures. Various vocational training courses have also been offered to 20  needy youths who already  obtained job opportunities, he added.

Moreover, Mr. Ismail indicated that a total of 10 families catering for 31 orphan children have been rehabilitated through business activities and dairy farming at an expenditure of 20,000 Nakfa.

Meanwhile, school materials and uniforms have been provided in assistance to 420 students which would enable them to pursue the year-long academic pursuit without any difficulty.

The beneficiaries expressed satisfaction with the assistance extended by the Government.
