Training on modern bee farming offered in Southern region

In line with efforts to enable war-disabled nationals become self-supporting and productive, training on modern bee farming was given to 38 disabled persons from 6 sub-zones of the Southern region. Mendefera, 6 October 2010 – In line with efforts to enable war-disabled nationals become self-supporting and productive, training on modern bee farming was given to 38 disabled persons from 6 sub-zones of the Southern region.

The training focused on handling and breeding of bee swarms, modern beehives and other modern tools in the field.

The head of animal resource in the region, Dr. Ogbazgi Kifle, called on the trainees to make good use of the newly acquired skill in transforming from traditional method of bee farming to the modern one. Noting the significance of proper handling and suitable site in boosting bee production, he asserted that the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the region would extend the necessary professional advice to this end.

The head of social services in the region, Mr. Tesfatsion Girmai, said on his part that the Government has been implementing  various programs towards supporting disabled nationals and called on the beneficiaries to strive for improving their standard of living.
