The head of police station in Golij sub-zone, Lt. Mohammed Saleh Ismail, explained that the vehicles operating in the sub-zone are not only outdated but proper checkups have not also been effected on them. Such unsafe condition of vehicles, coupled with negligence on the part of drivers is causing growing traffic accidents in the sub-zone, he stated.
Lt. Mohammed went on to say that carrying overload and over speeding on the part of buses are becoming among the main causes of road accidents. In this connection, he called on drivers to avoid negligence and refrain from selfish practices.
Latest reports indicated that a bus traveling along the Tessenei-Golij route carrying 44 passengers was overturned due to over speeding on October 27. A total of 21 passengers were heavily injured, while 23 others sustained light injuries in the accident.
