Keren, 20 December 2010 – Residents of various administrative areas in Keren town are carrying out machinery-backed popular campaign focusing on renovation of damaged dirt roads.
The Administrator of the town, Mr. Tekie Keleta, said the campaign is the first of its kind as it is being undertaken in coordination with machineries.
The activities in which all branches of the town Administration are taking part include the renovation and repair of roads that have been causing transport problem, clearing up garbage areas and covering up big holes.
The Administrator of administrative area No. 2 in the town, Ms. Yordanos Gebrai, indicated that environmental sanitation activities are being inculcated as a culture and that the latest popular campaign would help to relieve transport problem caused by damaged roads.
Also in line with the Government’s vigorous endeavors to modernize and improve the streets of Keren town, about 17 Km-long road has been asphalted.
