Hamelmalo College Of Agriculture Laying Emphasis On Practical Education

The Dean of Hamelmalo College of Agriculture, Mr. Semere Amlesom, highlighted the significance of practical aspect of education in enriching the theoretical knowledge of students.

Hamelmalo, 8 January 2011 – The Dean of Hamelmalo College of Agriculture, Mr. Semere Amlesom, highlighted the significance of practical aspect of education in enriching the theoretical knowledge of students.

He told ERINA that in view of the fact that the college is located along the Anseba River with sufficient water resource and farmlands, it creates conducive ground for students to translate theoretical knowledge into practice.

Mr. Semere further indicated that a laboratory center has been opened focusing on irrigation farming, hybrid of cows, Veterinary Science, seed hybrid and seed fertilization, among others. As a result, students graduating from the college are able to engage in the world of work with rich theoretical and practical know-how, he added.

Noting that the college has opened a sorghum hybrid center for the benefit of farmers, the Dean said that hybrid sorghum seeds experimented in Sutir project and individually owned farmlands have borne fruitful outcome. Continued study is also being undertaken towards promoting fruits and vegetables farming activities, Mr. Semere added.
