Ministry issues new work procedures regarding use of roads

The Ministry of Transport and Communications has issued new work procedures regarding the use of roads, disclosed Mr. Tesfamariam Woldegebriel, head of traffic affairs in the Land Transport Department.

Asmara, 9 January 2011 – The Ministry of Transport and Communications has issued new work procedures regarding the use of roads, disclosed Mr. Tesfamariam Woldegebriel, head of traffic affairs in the Land Transport Department.

Pointing out that all road  users have been paying tax at check points since March 2007, henceforth however, all private and government-owned vehicles would pay tax once a year during the vehicle inspection period  as of January this year. Mr. Tesfamariam further stated that the new procedure would make due contribution in work efficiency.

Moreover, he explained that the Government is exerting the necessary effort to provide reliable transport service through putting in place bridges, roads and other facilities. Mr. Tesfamariam further called on beneficiaries to apply the new work procedures.
