13 potable water supply projects were implemented in various areas of Gash-Barka region last year at a total expenditure of 24 million Nakfa.
Barentu, 9 January 2011 – 13 potable water supply projects were implemented in various areas of Gash-Barka region last year at a total expenditure of 24 million Nakfa.
Eng. Amanuel Berhe from the water project unit in the region said that the projects in the sub-zones of Golij, Tessenei, Agordat, Shambuko, Laelai Gash, Haikota and Mogolo respectively are nearing finalization. He added that 73% of the population of Gash-Barka are getting reliable potable water supply. Eng Amanuel further called on the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the available service.
Mr. Hassen Mohammed, one of the inhabitants of Laelai Gash, on his parr pointed out that the provision of water supply is making due contribution in improving the living standard of the local inhabitants, especially in the sphere of health.
