Central Regional Assembly Holds Meeting With Representatives Of The People

The Central regional Assembly held a meeting with representatives of the people regarding the outcome of the 10th regular meeting and ways of putting into effect the then adopted resolutions and recommendations. Asmara, 25 March 2011 –  The Central regional Assembly held a meeting with representatives of the people regarding the outcome of the 10th regular meeting and ways of putting into effect the then adopted resolutions and recommendations.

The meeting took note of Government endeavors to improve the people’s living standard and achieve food security, as well as the construction and renovation of micro-dams and water reservoirs. It also highlighted the introduction of modern irrigation system connected with major agricultural development programs, in addition to the setting up of market centers for direct interaction of consumers and producers.

The regional Assembly disclosed that concerted action is being taken to encourage trade and investment, ensuring fair market, collecting government tax on time, controlling illegal businessmen and enhancing popular participation in all domains.

It was also disclosed that addressing unfair house rent on the part of owners is among the major tasks that the Assembly is seriously addressing. The necessary efforts would continue to be made towards easing social problems in collaboration with concerned parties, it elaborated.

The participants of the meeting expressed determination to back up development programs and maintain environmental security.
