Barentu, 16 August 2011 – The branch office of the Ministry of Agriculture in Barnetu sub-zone has implemented various developmental projects, including soil and water conservation and the construction of micro-dams at a total expenditure of over 2 million Nakfa.
Reports indicated that different kinds of tree seedlings have been planted over 2,000 hectares through reforestation measures , and that reserve lands in a number of administrative areas are playing due role in securing the supply of animal feed. The reports further indicated that the temporary grazing land in the administrative areas of Omeli and Kuluku has provided sufficient animal feed in these areas.
Meanwhile, the 22 micro-dams in the sub-zone have impounded adequate amount of water.
