Gash-Barka Administrator calls on farmers to protect agricultural infrastructures from damage

The Administrator of Gash Barka region, Mr. Musa Rab’a, called on the farming communities of the region to redouble efforts so as to protect agricultural infrastructures from damage during this year’s good rainy season. He made the remarks during an inspection tour he conducted in Hashenkit administrative area, Haikota sub-zone, to observe 720 hectares put under cultivation through irrigation system.
Barentu, 15 September 2011 – The Administrator of Gash Barka region, Mr. Musa Rab’a, called on the farming communities of the region to redouble efforts so as to protect agricultural infrastructures from damage during this year’s good rainy season. He made the remarks during an inspection tour he conducted in Hashenkit administrative area, Haikota sub-zone, to observe 720 hectares put under cultivation through irrigation system.

The administrator said that although the construction of the irrigation system is not entirely completed, a vast land has been judiciously utilized. He also emphasized the need for farmers to exert utmost efforts in a bid to augment their harvest.

Moreover, the administrator of Haikota, Mr. Hamid Yosuf, also urged farmers to regularly repair water diversion schemes put in place in the sub-zone.
