Associations in Central region called upon to enhance contribution towards achieving food security

He said that the associations have not so far made maximum use of the available market, reliable transport and communication facilities, favorable climate condition, supply of animal feed and other resources.

Pointing out that the associations’ commencement of legal procedures through restructuring their organization from sub-zonal to regional level represents progress, the Administrator reminded them to exert joint effort to meet market demand, besides stabilizing it.

The participants of the meeting reiterated readiness to redouble endeavors, and adopted a number of resolutions.

Mr. Kahsai said that priory is being given to promote the supply of animal feed at regional level, and that an assessment meeting to strengthen the capacity of the associations would be conducted, among others. He also commended the association of beekeepers for having put in place over 900 beehives in 2010.
