Anseba region: Efforts to enrich underground and surface water resources bear fruitful outcome

The Administrator of Anseba region, Mr. Gergis Girmai, pointed out that the construction of dams and ponds are playing significant role in ensuring reliable water supply and develop irrigation farming.

Keren, 10 October 2011 – The Administrator of Anseba region, Mr. Gergis Girmai, pointed out that the construction of dams and ponds are playing significant role in ensuring reliable water supply and develop irrigation farming.

He said that the construction of infrastructure facilities in the sub-zones of Elaberid, Geleb, Habero, Keren, Adi-Tekelizan and Hagaz have enriched water resources which in turn alleviated potable water problem.

The Administrator also indicated that efforts would be stepped up to develop irrigation farming through enriching surface and underground water resources, and that  coffee and mango seedlings would be distributed. He also said that plans have been drawn up to properly harness Anseba River and others.

In addition, Mr. Gergis called on the general public to continue active participation in the implementation of development programs.
