Reforestation activity undertaken in places of worship makes due contribution in promoting sound ecology

Keren, 10 October 2011 – At a meeting conducted in Keren town regarding the advantages of reforestation program, religious leaders said that reforestation activity carried out in places of worship is making due contribution in promoting sound ecology, in addition to soil and water conservation.

They said that the on-going reforestation programs in the city are being carried out effectively through popular participation and government institutions, and that places of worship are making due contribution in the activities.

The head of land resource in the region, Mr. Kesete Tesfatsion, indicated that extensive soil and water conservation activity has been carried out, and that 750,000 seedlings have been distributed for plantation.
