Eritrea’s concerted endeavors to achieve food security at substantial investment is registering encouraging outcome, according to the director general of regulations and control in the Agriculture Ministry, Mr. Tekleab Misgna.
Asmara, 17 October 2011 –Eritrea’s concerted endeavors to achieve food security at substantial investment is registering encouraging outcome, according to the director general of regulations and control in the Agriculture Ministry, Mr. Tekleab Misgna. He made the statement in the commemorative meeting at the Asmara Palace Hotel in connection with World Food Day.
Mr. Tekleab noted that countries are called upon to pay due attention to the task of ensuring higher agricultural productivity through upgrading their scientific capacity.
Likewise, the Dean of the Hamelmalo Agriculture College, Mr. Semere Amlesom, explained that thanks to the mobilization of internal resources, the country has achieved gratifying outcome in endeavors to achieve food security.
The UN representative in Eritrea, Dr. Mamadu Diallo, noted on his part that the substantial investment the Eritrean government is making in the agricultural sector, as well as its encouraging policy as regards the sector, have vital role to play in efforts to achieve food security.
