The branch office of the savings and micro-credit scheme in Afabet is creating viable ground for nationals in Emahmime, Karura sub-zone, to engage themselves in agriculture and trade activities through extending loan amounting one million Nakfa. Afabet, 4 November 2011 – The branch office of the savings and micro-credit scheme in Afabet is creating viable ground for nationals in Emahmime, Karura sub-zone, to engage themselves in agriculture and trade activities through extending loan amounting one million Nakfa.

The Acting head of the branch office, Mr. Yonas Misgna, explained that the scheme has played great role in assisting more than 1,200 beneficiaries to support themselves. It has also opened 25 Village Banks in Afabet, Karura and Nacfa, besides investing 8 million Nakfa.

Mr. Ibrahim Mahmoud, representative of the branch office in Nacfa and Karura sub-zones, said that the farming communities in Felket and Emahmime are in a position of improving their living standard and achieve food security thanks to the opening of the branch office in 2008.

The branch office in Karura sub-zone has about 200 customers engaged in a number of trade and agricultural activities, according to reports.
