Southern region: Women’s participation in development program described impressive

In a report she presented at an assessment meeting, the head of the NUEW branch, Ms. Saliha Adem, stated that a number of skill-upgrading courses were offered to women aimed at enabling them become self-reliant, and that 51 water motors have been distributed to owners of 102 hectares. Loan amounting to 5.2 million Nakfa was also extended to women engaged in business ventures, she added.

Moreover, Ms. Saliha explained that more than 4,000 nationals out of whom 6,000 women who took part in Adult Education Program have managed to read and write. She also indicated that heath campaign was conducted extensively, and that smokeless ovens have been distributed to the inhabitants.
