The Health Ministry’s branch in Gash-Barka region indicated that it is exerting integrated endeavors to promote service quality.
Barentu, 12 February 2013 – The Health Ministry’s branch in Gash-Barka region indicated that it is exerting integrated endeavors to promote service quality. It made the statement at an assessment meeting conducted in Barentu city, during which it was stated that child immunization outreach has grown by 7%, showing more gratifying accomplishment in rural areas.
Accordingly, commendable maternity service was rendered in 2012, besides the accomplishment registered as regards malaria prevention.
Dr. Le’ul Bantiyirga, head of the branch office, disclosed that 8 health institutions have been renovated as a community hospital is being constructed in Haikota semi-urban center and a regional blood bank being set up. Moreover, emergency room and operation rooms are being built in the health institutions in Agordat and Goluj respectively, in addition to the maintaining of 19 ambulances and the dispatching of 4 new others.
In closing remarks, the Administrator of Gash-Barka region, Mr. Mohammed Hamd, lauded the active role of health personnel, and expressed the Administration’s readiness to collaborate with health institutions.
Also speaking at the meeting, Ms. Amna Nur-Hussein, Minister of Health, pointed out that the Ministry has mapped out various health programs for implementation in the region, which include construction and upgrading of health institutions in Ali-Gidir, Haikota, Qachero, Tesenei, Sawa and Agordat.
