The inhabitants of Shaftakh village said that community-based living has become a stepping stone to higher impact of social service facilities and growing socio-economic activities in the locality, enabling it to witness growth towards a semi-urban center.

Hagaz, 6 May 2013 – The inhabitants of Shaftakh village said that community-based living has become a stepping stone to higher impact of social service facilities and growing socio-economic activities in the locality, enabling it to witness growth towards a semi-urban center.

Among the inhabitants, Ms. Tiblets Tesfamichael and Mr. Amine Hamd commended the government’s commitment regarding rural development, and indicated that the community members are doing their level best to this end.

Mr. Gergis Abraha, Administrator of Ashera Administrative area, disclosed that the inhabitants have become beneficiaries of health, electricity supply, transport and educational facilities, in addition to the availability of various small scale businesses. Moreover, he pointed out that water diversion canals have been constructed on around 500 hectares through popular undertaking, while numerous terraces, as well as water catchment walls have been built, and that commendable initiative has been taken to preserve indigenous trees.
