Eritrean community members residing in Australia and New Zealand finalize preparations for Independence Day observance

Eritrean community members in Australia and New Zealand have reportedly finalized preparations for the 22nd Independence Day observance which is being marked under the theme “Eritrea – Shield of Resilience and Nobility of Work.”

Asmara, 13 May 2013 – Eritrean community members in Australia and New Zealand have reportedly finalized preparations for the 22nd Independence Day observance which is being markedunder the theme “Eritrea – Shield of Resilience and Nobility of Work.”

Mr. Yasin Omar, chairman of the community’s holidays organizing committee, disclosed that cultural, sports and literary contests, as well as other activities would be conducted in connection with the momentous Day, which event is being celebrated in collaboration with the branches of national Unions and the PFDJ. He further pointed out that the programs have been organized in such a way that provides groundwork for nurturing national and cultural values to the young generation, and called on parents to demonstrate increased participation with youths in the event.

Reports indicate that the celebration would take place from 18 to 25 of this month in the foreign cities of Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney, Auckland and Wellington, among others.

Meanwhile, the community members recently conducted a meeting, during which they voiced staunch resistance against external conspiracies and expressed readiness to back up the national development drive.
