Asmara, 31 May 2013 – The Asmara Municipal Administration indicated that comparative advantage of the new solar energy-powered light poles in Asmara along the areas of the Airport, Grounds, State House, Edaga-Hamus, Edaga-Haraj and Gejeret is significant.
It further disclosed that the functionality of the poles is at ease during the rainy season, and that more than 120 poles have so far been erected within the city with a view to substituting its street light supply entirely with solar energy.
Among the city residents, Mr. Naizgi Gebremichael, Ms. Gidei Muhur, Ms. Abeba Berhe and Mr. Mesfin Gebrewold expressed satisfaction with the new mode of electricity supply, and called on the City’s Municipal Administration to facilitate the scheme and for residents to collaborate in safeguarding the light poles.
